Why do the particles end up in the fibroids?

Fibroids are a bit like sponges. They require and absorb large amounts of blood. The particles are carefully placed in the blood vessel that feeds the fibroids, and because the blood flow at that point is strongest into the fibroid, the particles stay in that branch of the vessel and block the blood flow.
