We use "conscious sedation" during the procedure. Before the procedure begins, you will be given some narcotics and relaxants through an IV. This serves primarily to keep you relaxed and calm. Some patients are so comfortable that they fall asleep, but others stay awake but groggy throughout the procedure. Most women do not remember the procedure but some do. In either case, the procedure is not uncomfortable or painful.
